Privacy policy
How we handle your information
Last updated: October 27, 2026
S&S Contracting ("we", "us") is a small Ottawa business. We respect your privacy and follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). This page explains, in plain language, what we collect and what we do with it.
What we collect
When you ask for a quote through our website, by text, by phone or by email, we collect what you choose to send us:
- your name, phone number and email address
- the address or neighbourhood of the job
- details about the job, your preferred date and how you'd like us to contact you
- any photos you send of the job
We also count visits to this website with GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly tool. It tells us how many people visit, which pages they look at, and roughly where they came from (for example, Google or Instagram). It doesn't use cookies, doesn't follow you to other websites, and doesn't collect your name, email or exact location.
We don't use advertising cookies on this website, and we don't collect payment card numbers through it.
How we use it
We only use your information to:
- give you a quote and answer your questions
- schedule and do the work you book with us
- send invoices and receipts, and keep the records the law requires us to keep
We don't sell, rent or trade your information, and we don't add you to a mailing list.
Who else sees it
Your quote request is delivered to our business email (sscontractingg@gmail.com) through our website host, Netlify, and Google's Gmail. These services store data on our behalf and may store it outside Canada, including in the United States. We don't share your information with anyone else unless the law requires it.
Our website loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers when you visit. Visit counts are processed by GoatCounter, which stores only anonymous totals.
How long we keep it
If you don't book a job, we delete your quote request and photos within 12 months. If you do, we keep job and payment records for as long as Canadian tax law requires, which is generally six years.
Your choices
You can ask us at any time to see the information we have about you, correct it, or delete it (except records we must keep by law). Just email sscontractingg@gmail.com and we'll respond within 30 days.
If you have a concern we can't resolve, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
